The mission of the Center for Literacy through Indigenous Teachings (CLIT) is to
provide research, training, and instructional materials that facilitate the empowerment of
diverse people through critical literacy, understanding the historical roots and
consequences of one's values and beliefs and the values and beliefs of others (Giroux
1983,1992).
